1. Keep safe distance

A dust storm can severely affect visibility, therefore remember to maintain safe distance between you and the car in front of you. 

2. Watch your speed

Drive slow, avoid abrupt braking and try to concentrate on staying in your lane until necessary.

3. Turn your headlights on

Using headlights during a dust storm makes it easier to judge distance and see approaching traffic.

4. Stay inside the vehicle

Keep your windows closed while driving and avoid stepping out of the car unnecessarily.

5. Set your A/C controls

Use the Recirculation setting on your car A/C to keep the hot, dusty outside air from entering the cabin.

6. Stay connected

Keep your car’s radio tuned to local weather station or use your phone’s weather app to stay updated on the road conditions.

Once the dust storm settles, here are ways to care for your car:

1. Do not remove the dust on your car’s surface with a cloth. Use a hose or power washer to give it a thorough wash.
2. Give your car’s exterior a coat of vehicle wax to minimise wear and provide additional protection.
3. Cover your car while parked outside
4. Clean the car air filter to get rid of any accumulated dust and sand particles
5. Don’t forget to wash the interiors to remove any dust particles
